Airport authorities commended a screening officer for his honesty after he found and turned over a lost wallet containing P10,000.
The wallet was left behind at the Final Security Screening Checkpoint of Ninoy Aquino International Airport – Terminal 2 on Jan. 19.
The passenger who lost the wallet was quickly located and able to retrieve it. The owner thanked the efforts of the Office for Transportation Security (OTS) Screening Officer Wilfredo Riego and his supervisor Jetty Abarabar.
Riego was the OTS screening officer who also returned an envelope containing P112,000 worth of foreign money at the airport earlier this month. He took the brown envelope containing 20 pieces of 100 dollar cash and handed it over to MIAA Lost and Found Section for inventory and documentation.
OTS Officer-in-Charge Assistant Secretary Jose Briones Jr. praised and expressed his appreciation for the honesty and integrity exemplified by his men.
“The management believes that the increasing number of valuable items being returned at the checkpoint demonstrates the effectiveness of our enhanced internal cleansing program,” said Briones.
Briones is hoping that this practice continues, as it helps to attract tourists to the country by showcasing the true Filipino brand of hospitality.
