CAAP issues NOTAM for temporary closure of Pagadian Airport’s runway

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines issues a Notice to Airmen for the temporary closure of Pagadian Airport’s runway to give way to its rehabilitation starting April 15 to May 15, 2024.

The emergency repair of the concrete runway, which includes the removal and replacement of damaged concrete blocks, will last for one month to ensure the safety of incoming and outgoing flights in the airport and to prevent hard landings.

A total of 34 concrete blocks require replacement and many of these are situated near the runway centerline which is a critical area for aircraft operations.

Given these parameters, the span of temporary closure will allocate sufficient time for demolition, site preparation, concrete pouring, and the necessary curing period for concrete pavement.

Pagadian Airport operates four regular flights daily, thus the one-month closure is expected to impact approximately 120 flights. Therefore, passengers are encouraged to coordinate with their respective airlines for assistance in rerouting their flights.
