The Bureau of Customs – Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) intercepted 3,028 grams of shabu with an estimated street value of P20.59 million.
Upon examination of the shipment on March 25, transparent plastic vacuum pouches and self-sealing white pouches labeled as โwhey protein ‘were found to contain methamphetamine, commonly known as shabu.
The shipmentโs claimant was promptly arrested and a criminal case will be filed for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
NAIA District Collector Atty Yasmin O. Mapa stated that โThis seizure is part of an ongoing operation to further fortify our borders against the entry of illegal drugs.โ
BOC Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio reiterated that, โThe BOC will not tolerate such tactics, and substances disguised as health supplements must not be exploited for any form of smuggling, especially illegal drugs.”
